Report: Samsung Plans to Launch the Galaxy Note 8 in August

Last year was pretty rough for Samsung as the company had to suspend the production of the Galaxy Note 7 due to some serious battery related issues which not only hurt the South Korean giant financially but also did damage to the Galaxy Note brand globally. After the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 phablet, it looks like Samsung is now getting ready to release the latest member in its Note series.

According to a new report coming from South Korea, Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy Note 8 as early as August. As reported by the South Korean publication Naver, Samsung is expected to hold an Unpacked event on August 26 in New York, where the company will likely unveil its newest Galaxy Note device.

Samsung reportedly initially planned to launch the Galaxy Note 8 in the first week of September at IFA 2017 but later changed the schedule to avoid conflict with Apple, which was also planning to launch its newest iPhone in September.

In terms of design, the Galaxy Note 8 is not expected to be radically different compared to the Galaxy S8/S8+. According to a Samsung official who spoke to Naver, the Note 8 will feature a 6.3-inch curved Infinity display, a slightly improved S Pen, a dual-camera setup on the rear, and the Bixby button found on the Galaxy S8/S8+.

The Galaxy S8 featured an awkwardly-positioned fingerprint reader besides the rear camera, which many found tough to access while using the device with one hand. Luckily, that won't be the case with the Galaxy Note 8 as the report states that the fingerprint reader on the Galaxy Note 8 has been shifted to the center of the device. Earlier it was believed that the Galaxy Note 8 will come with an on-screen fingerprint reader, however, due to technical limitations like slow reading speed and low recognition rate, Samsung had to drop the plan.

Meanwhile, Samsung is also planning to release the Galaxy Note FE, a refurbished version of the Note 7, next month in South Korea. The device will feature a reduced capacity battery and will reportedly retail for over $600.

How to Install Android 7.0 Nougat based LineageOS 14.1 on Galaxy C5 Smartphone

Samsung launched the Galaxy C5 just recently and as we all know, it is a pretty good smartphone for the price. It packs a decent set of specs for the price. However, if you are not really a fan of the typical Samsung UI then you would be disappointed here. In that case, your only option would be to flash the update manually. However, if you are wondering how to do it, then you are in the right place. Today in this tutorial, we will be showing you exactly how to install Android 7.0 Nougat based LineageOS 14.1 on Galaxy C5 Smartphone. But before we begin the installation, let's check out some of the features it brings to the table.

About the ROM

Since this is based on Android 7.0 Nougat based OS, you can expect it to bring pretty much all the features along with it. Below are some of the working features of the same –

Now with that out of the way, let's take a look at some of the prerequisite that is required for this installation.

Pre-requisite

The first thing which you need to make sure is that you are creating a complete backup of your files. Since we will be completely wiping the internal memory of the phone, you will end up loosing all your files.
You also need to make sure that you are installing a custom recovery software. You can install any of your choices, however, we suggest you go for TWRP for this installation.
You also need to make sure that the battery in the smartphone as about 60-percent charge before you begin the installation. If your smartphone's battery dies during the installation, then you may end up with a completely bricked smartphone.
And lastly it is also necessary to make sure that you have downloaded the firmware file which is necessary for the installation. Without this file, you won't be able to proceed with the installation and hence we suggest you download the same from the link given below.

Installation

Assuming that you have downloaded the files given in the link above, it is now time to begin the instalaltion process.
The first thing which you need to make sure is that you copy the downloaded file to the smartphone.
Once done, simply turn off your phone and enter into the recovery mode. You can do this by pressing Volume Down + Power Key at the same time.
After this, once you are in the recovery menu, look for wipe and format option ⇒ wipe data, system, cache and Dalvik cache and initiate it.
Once done, now return back to the recovery menu and tap on Install.
Now it will ask you to browse for the firmware file which you had copied earlier. Simply navigate to the same and select it.
After that simply swipe to begin the installation.
Do make a note that the installation will take some time and hence we suggest you be patient with the same.
After it is done, before rebooting you can also choose to install the GApps.
Once this is done, your device will automatically reboot into the new ROM.
