Honor 7X Features the Kirin 659 SoC, 5.93″ 2:1 Display and Prices Starting at ~$200

For the last few years, we've seen Honor release "X" variants in their line-ups, featuring more affordable prices while still providing metal designs and decent specifications. We saw Honor 5X, followed by the Honor 6X, both of which were nice devices for their budget price-range. Now, the company has officially launched the Honor 7X in China this week with sales starting on October 17th, but sadly there hasn't been any mention of an international release date as of right now (those usually come a bit later, likely early next year).

Similarly to what other flagship devices have done this year, the Honor 7X has shifted to a 2:1 aspect ratio with close to a 6″ display from corner to corner. We're told the display of this new phone is just as wide as the display we saw on the 5.5″ Honor 6X, but the 2:1 aspect ratio will make the new phone much taller. Honor is also using edge-to-edge display technology with this device as well so while it won't be a curved edge like Samsung's phones, they are bringing the display all the way to the edge of the phone.

Inside, the Honor 7X is powered by the Kirin 659 SoC, a mid-range chipset that has also been featured in the Huawei Nova 2, Nova 2 Plus and is rumored to be included in the Huawei Mate 10 Lite. The Honor 7X has 4GB of RAM with internal storage options ranging from 32GB all the way to 128GB depending on which model you go with. Honor has shifted to USB Type-C (about time!) with this phone and has included a 3,340mAh battery with a dual-SIM slot as well.

The back of the device features a 16MP main camera that is also paired with a 2MP secondary sensor for the popular bokeh effect, and a fingerprint scanner right where you would expect. The front of the Honor 7X has an 8MP camera and it will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 sitting on top of it. The device will come in three different color options (Aurora Blue, Gold, and Black), with the 32GB variant pricing coming in  at ¥1,299 (~$200), the 64GB variant priced at ¥1,699 (~$250) and the 128GB variant being priced at ¥1,999 (~$305).
