Meizu Launches the M6 Note in China with the Snapdragon 625 SoC

Meizu, like other Chinese smartphone OEMs, are known for producing Android smartphones at a reasonable price with an impressive design and build quality. Their devices have typically shipped with system-on-a-chips from MediaTek (and even the Exynos SoC  from Samsung), but they haven't worked with Qualcomm lately due to a patent lawsuit. That lawsuit has been completed and that's why we're seeing the Snapdragon 625 in the M6 Note.

The M6 Note from Meizu is rocking a 5.5″ 1080p display with a fingerprint scanner sitting right beneath it. As mentioned, it has the Snapdragon 625 SoC from Qualcomm with the option of 3GB of RAM or 4GB of RAM. The 3GB variant comes with 16GB and 32GB storage options while the 4GB model has 64GB of internal storage. Inside we also have a 4,000mAh capacity battery that is compatible with Meizu's mCharge technology (with its 18W charger).

Along with the Snapdragon SoC, the other standout feature here is the two cameras placed on the back of the device. The main camera of the two is a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor with a 1.4 µm pixel size and this is paired with an f/1.9 lens and a 5MP secondary camera. Meizu is using this secondary camera on the M6 Note for the popular bokeh effect and they are assisted with a dual-tone 4-LED flash with promises of 0.03s focus times.

The front of the Meizu M6 Note has a 16MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens. The device will ship with Android 7.1.2 Nougat with the company's Flyme 6.0 OEM ROM on top of it. They will be made available in Gold, Black and Blue with prices ranging from CNY1,099 ($164), CNY1,299 ($194) and CNY1,699 ($254) depending on which model you choose to go with. With the Meizu M6 Note being the first of their devices to ship with a Snapdragon SoC, this could be a popular smartphone for the company.
