OnePlus Teams Up With Castelbajac for an Exclusive Limited Edition of the OnePlus 5

OnePlus, as a company, has always been known for their bold marketing. Last year, they've struck a partnership with renowned French pop-up store Colette and released an exclusive Colette black edition of their OnePlus 3T, which was available in very limited quantities. They've also frequently recurred to hype to sell their products in the past, most notably with the OnePlus 2, which was so overhyped it actually fell victim to user expectations. Their latest marketing stunt comes to France once again, now involving Moroccan-French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and their latest phone, the OnePlus 5.

This unusual partnership gave light to yet another exclusive flagship variant: the OnePlus 5 JCC limited edition, which features multicolored (red, blue, and yellow) physical buttons and switches on the sides, as well as a laser-etched handwritten note on the back of the midnight black, 128GB version of the OnePlus 5. This special edition encompasses "Castelbajac's signature design style" while delivering the same overkill specifications as the regular models, so users can experience, in OnePlus's words, a "fusion of art and tech" in this limited edition phone. There are no additional hardware or software features aside from the new wallpapers: the changes are only on the outside of the phone.

The phone will be available, once again, on Colette's pop-up store in Paris, France, on September 22nd, 2017 at 11:00 am. We don't know just how many devices will be actually available this time around, but judging by last year's sale, it will be available in really limited amounts.

The OnePlus + Castelbajac partnership also brings other items, like shirts, tote bags, caps, etcetera. However, the spotlight here is, very clearly, the exclusive phone, which notably stands out for its unusual looks. You can read more about this collab over at the OnePlus website, which also includes images and videos of the new phone and all its extras.
